The mountain summit was just visible above the forest as we trekked ahead. All around the trail, ferns and trees danced in the wind.
I was on the Deoriatal – Chandrashila trek (Read my post about it here) when I came across this spectacle around Mt. Chaukambha. This trek cuts through the Kudremukh Wildlife Sanctuary. You criss-cross dense pine forests and open meadows as you hike up the trail. (Blog post on the trek coming soon!)
One of the evenings, I was strolling around Lake Deoriatal when the first glint of orange lit up the evening sky.
I watched as the clouds coalesced against a backdrop of the setting sun. It was something out of a movie, everything flowing in slow motion. In time, the clouds were silhouetted upon the crimson sunset.
Mesmerised, I climbed up a watchtower to see the display unfold. Blue ran into orange, with light rays peeking through the gauzy curtain of clouds—a nebula of colours, transfixing me.
Night came swiftly, as it does in the mountains. I got this shot right before the sun slipped beneath the horizon, casting darkness over the land.
