The Gomukh Temple, Maharashtra, is iconic for the perennial stream that flows through its centre. Devotees from around the state come to bathe in it.
I visited the temple early in 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
There I observed an elderly man bathing his grandson. The boy frequently escaped his grandfather’s grip, splashing with delight in the water. The man looked on, suppressing his smile as he disciplined the child.
The innocence in the scene had a lasting impression on me. This image commemorates that familial love, writing it into the wet cement of my memory.
